Triple Recall Rally Draws Hundreds to Will Rogers State Beach

Pacific Palisades, CA – On Saturday, July 31st concerned citizens, community members, representatives from Protecting Parks and Beaches, organizers for Stop the Madness: Support Recalling District Attorney Gascon Now, and gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder met at Will Rogers State Park located at 1501 Will Rogers State Park Rd, Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.

Speakers at the event included Krishna Thangavelu, whose home overlooks Will Rogers State Park and who spoke of the failed policies of LA City Councilmember Mike Bonin that have only exacerbated the epidemic of the unhoused in the area. From Protecting Parks and Beaches, Nina Maddok spoke about the fact that public spaces are for recreation, not for habitation.

Further contributing to the public safety concerns are the perilous policies of DA George Gascon and speaking to see him recalled were Emma Rivas, the mother of a murdered son whose murderer could see an early release under Gascon’s directives. Paula Ramirez a spokesperson to the Latino community, addressed the dangers that Gascon’s policies pose to people of color. Also, speaking in favor of Gascon’s recall was Deputy District Attorney John McKinney, who reiterated the harm Gascon’s directives are having on victims and the demoralizing effects that has on the job of prosecutors in the District Attorney’s Office.

Next, gubernatorial candidate and media personality Larry Elder spoke about the failed policies of Governor Gavin Newsom and the effects his decisions have had financially, to the public safety, and on the everyday lives of all Californians.

The event concluded peacefully even after a public service alert was raised due to a call to law enforcement reporting a large group gathered allegedly protesting.
