RNC Statement on New Republican Leadership in Virginia

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released the following statement on the start of new Republican leadership in Virginia:

“After too many years of Democrat rule, it is a bright new day in Virginia. I am honored to be in attendance for today’s inauguration, and I know that Governor Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Sears and Attorney General Miyares, along with the newly Republican-controlled House of Delegates, will put the commonwealth back on track.”

  • RNC Investments:
    • The RNC made a multi-million-dollar investment in Virginia, with over 120 staff on the ground, 13 victory offices, and over 7.5 million voter contacts.
    • The Virginia field team broke voter contact records by targeting voters in key areas to drive up GOP margins and turnout our voters.
  • Growing Our Party:
    • Gov. Glenn Youngkin received more votes than any statewide office holder in Virginia history, winning Hispanics and Latinos by a 55-44 margin and receiving 13 percent of the Black vote in Virginia.
    • Lt. Gov. Winsome Sears is the first woman and first Black woman Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.
    • AG Jason Miyares is the first Latino Attorney General of Virginia.
