LA Art Show 2022 Draws Crowds of Masked Art Lovers and Generates Great Sales!

The LA Art Show wrapped up a spectacular live in-person five-day event on Sunday! The show attracted enthusiastic crowds of mask-wearing art lovers to the LA Convention Center for an exciting reunion of the art community and a great kick-off to the Los Angeles winter art season! The Show’s second live event in just six months, returning after our successful Summer 2021 edition, attracted 20 percent more visitors than last summer, with some 45,000 attendees! The show was a big success for guests and exhibitors alike, with many galleries reporting great sales!
LA Art Show producer and director Kassandra Voyagis, returning after her brilliant 2021 debut, orchestrated a safe, vibrant and compelling show with two concurrent themes: the role of art in advancing a dialogue about the looming impact of a warming planet, and the explosion of NFTs and new digital media. The environmental theme reverberated throughout the show, propelling the curatorial focus of our DIVERSEartLA program curated by Marisa Caichiolo.
A growing emphasis of the LA Art Show, DIVERSEartLA 2022 was experiential. Visitors enjoyed large scale immersive installations featuring eight participating projects, each with museum involvement: The Museum of Nature of Cantabria Spain presented Our Turn to Change, a video installation by Andrea Juan and Gabriel Penedo Diego, highlighting melting icebergs in the Arctic and Antarctic. The MUMBAT Museum of Fine Arts of Tandil and the Museum of Nature and Science Antonio Serrano of Entre Rios Argentina presented, The Earth’s Fruits, by Guillermo Anselmo Vezzosi, curated by Indiana Gnocchini. This scientific research project culminated in an installation piece dignifying and giving new life to waste. Other participants included MUSA, Museum of the Arts of the University of Guadalajara, MCA Museum of Environmental Science, Dox Contemporary-Prague, the Czech Center New York, the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Los Angeles and Torrance Art Museum.
The event kicked off with a dazzling VIP Opening Night Premiere Party hosted by international model and actress Kaia Gerber and benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.®  We’re honored St. Jude returned for the seventh year as our exclusive charity partner. The LA Art Show donates 15 percent of proceeds from ticket sales to St. Jude.
Many galleries reported strong sales and great exposure. Among the highest-selling exhibitors, Mizuma Gallery, Melissa Morgan, J&J Art, Pigment Gallery, Arcadia Contemporary, Beatriz Esquerra Arte and Simard Bilodeau Contemporary all had excellent sales. For longtime exhibitors Rebecca Hossack Art Gallery and Abend Gallery, 2022 was a best-ever record-breaking year while, Fabrik Projects sold 11 NFTs at the show!
The LA Art Show continues in its tradition of leading the pack. As the first live show to join the NFT craze, introducing attendees to this new phenomenon in digital art, this year we expanded our NFT focus. Highlights included presentations by Los Angeles gallery KP Projects in partnership with LGND, the return of Vellum LA gallery, as well as a specially curated exhibition of NFTs in the Fabrik NFT Salon and NFTs by astronaut artists presented by Fabrik Projects.
Spanning five days and housed in the vast 200,000 combined square foot South Hall of the LA Convention Center, we’re delighted the 2022 LA Art Show succeeded in cultivating a powerful sense of community and a wonderful experience for visitors and exhibitors alike.

Stay tuned for dates and information on our 2023 show, coming soon…
