Supervisor Hahn decries transit cuts in SELA communities and urges equitable approach

Cudahy, CA— Today, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is decrying transit cuts that have disproportionally hit the Southeast Los Angeles communities and is urging Metro to take an equitable approach to dealing with staffing shortages.  Across Metro’s system, 15% of bus trips have been cancelled. But in Southeast Los Angeles communities, the rate is 20%.

“This is absolutely unacceptable,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn. “Southeast Los Angeles communities are some of the most transit-dependent communities in the County, yet they are being hit the hardest by these bus cancellations. It is not right. Metro is facing real challenges, but the agency should not address them at the expense of the communities that depend on their service the most. We need to make sure that any changes to Metro’s scheduled bus service does not further burden our SELA communities.”
