Valladares Announces Endorsement from Fighter Pilot and Congressman Mike Garcia
(Santa Clarita) – Suzette Martinez Valladares, running for re-election to the California State Assembly in the newly drawn 40th Assembly District, today announced the endorsement of Congressman Mike Garcia.
“Suzette Martinez Valladares is a proven fighter who has a tremendous track record advocating for common-sense solutions in our community—including working to reduce our skyrocketing cost of living, improving public safety, and decreasing homelessness. Suzette is not only a fellow public servant but also a friend and fellow Santa Clarita resident, and I am proud to endorse her for re-election to the California State Assembly,” said Congressman Mike Garcia.
A first-generation American citizen, Congressman Mike Garcia was a highly decorated United States Naval Officer and businessman before serving in the United States House of Representatives. His superb flying performance earned him the honor of becoming one of the Navy’s first F/A-18 Super Hornet strike fighter pilots. While on active duty, Congressman Garcia flew over 30 combat missions during Operation Iraqi Freedom in the skies above Baghdad, Fallujah, and Tikrit. Congressman Garcia is a native of Santa Clarita, having moved to Saugus in 1983 with his mother and stepfather at seven years old. He lives in Santa Clarita with his wife, Rebecca, and their two sons.
“I am honored to have the support of Congressman Garcia, who has been a great advocate for our community at the federal level. I look forward to working with him as we fight for enhanced public safety, address the homelessness problem in our communities, and find common-sense solutions to the complex problems plaguing our state,” said Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares.
