LOS ANGELES MAYORAL CANDIDATE DENOUNCES DEEP-POCKETED, POLITICAL BILLIONAIRE INSIDER CANDIDATE WHO ARE TRYING TO BUY THE ELECTION

LOS ANGELES (February 17, 2022) — Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Mel Wilson, a San Fernando Valley businessman, housing advocate and former Metro Board member who has served under three mayors, today lambasted deep-pocketed billionaire Rick Caruso.

“The future of LA is on the line. We can’t let a billionaire like Caruso buy this campaign” said Wilson, who will participate in a mayoral debate at Loyola Marymount University on Tuesday, February 22.

Wilson is not surprised that Caruso is already plaguing the airwaves with his deep pockets. Does he really think the voters will go for his last-minute bait and switch political tricks?  Wilson believes that the public is smarter and can see through Caruso’s efforts to buy the election. We can’t let his empty sound bites sway the voters.”

Caruso changed his party affiliation two weeks ago. “Who is the real Rick Caruso?  What are his real beliefs?  Does anybody think that a guy with a $80 million yacht is going to stand up for middle-class workers?”

“Los Angeles is a city with multiple crises. Middle-class workers are suffering the most. Violent crime is rising, people are living on the streets in inhuman conditions, housing is no longer affordable and businesses are fleeing our city taking with them good paying jobs. Schools are failing our children, unabated climate changes are destroying our environment, young people and their families are sinking from the weight of student loan debts.”

“I have plans that will solve these problems. I believe my life experiences have prepared me of such a time as this.”

Wilson contrasted his campaign with that of Caruso and the other candidates “Our grassroots campaign consists of committed volunteers and has the support from people of all backgrounds.  My intentions are to engage with people of all faiths, genders and sexual orientations with a hyperfocus on middle-class Angelenos. We all want the same thing – a safer, better Los Angeles. I am proud to be an Angeleno who really cares about this city.”
