Educators throughout LA County continue to rally behind Horvath’s campaign

LOS ANGELES, CA – Support for the Honorable Lindsey P. Horvath continues to grow as educators and organizers throw in their support for her campaign for Los Angeles County 3rd District Supervisor. This week, Los Angeles Community College Board Trustee (LACCD) Nichelle Henderson announced her formal endorsement of Horvath’s campaign, joining a host of educators and college trustees backing Horvath.

Nichelle Henderson is a college faculty and union organizer who advocates for and builds capacity around the issues of education, labor, women’s reproductive health and political empowerment. She is a former middle school classroom teacher, and currently teaches at California State University Los Angeles. Nichelle is also a Faculty Advisor and Clinical Field Supervisor with the Cal State TEACH teacher preparation program.

“We need leaders who understand the importance of public education, and I am confident that Lindsey Horvath is that leader. She has a long track record of advocating for working families and students, and as Mayor and Councilmember she consistently led with integrity and tenacity. I am proud to endorse her campaign, and I know that she will be a powerful champion for students across Los Angeles County,” said Nichelle Henderson, Los Angeles Community College Board Trustee.

“I’m thrilled to have such a strong coalition of educators and organizers backing my candidacy. Trustee Henderson and I share the conviction that public schools must be prioritized and supported by leaders at every level. In order to succeed, students need to have a strong support system in place, which includes access to affordable housing, inclusive transit, and mental health services. As Los Angeles County Supervisor, I will work closely with dedicated public servants like Trustee Henderson to ensure that every student in LA County has access to a high quality education, as well as the tools they need to thrive,” said Councilmember Lindsey P. Horvath.
