State Assemblymember Mike Fong Endorses Alton Wang for Pasadena City College Board of Trustees
Arcadia, CA – In the latest demonstration of the broad coalition of community and elected leaders supporting Alton Wang for the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees, State Assemblymember Mike Fong today announced his strong endorsement of Wang’s campaign to represent Area 7. Fong represents the 49th Assembly District, which covers Arcadia and Temple City. The PCC Board of Trustees, Area 7 represents parts of Arcadia and Temple City.
“As a former community college trustee and community college student, I know firsthand that affordable, quality public education is the cornerstone of student success and the key to a vibrant community. Alton Wang understands and shares these important values,” said Assemblymember Mike Fong.
Assemblymember Fong continued, “Alton’s inclusive vision for Pasadena City College is what we need to better prepare our youth for our future. We need Alton’s leadership to increase student access to higher education, improve student transfer rates to four-year colleges, and expand campus resources. I enthusiastically endorse Alton Wang for Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees.”
Assemblymember Mike Fong was elected in February 2022. Fong was an elected Trustee for the Los Angeles Community College District, the largest community college district in the nation. Previously, he served as Director of Policy and Government Relations for the City of Los Angeles Department of Neighborhood Empowerment, East Area Director for Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, and a Commissioner for the City of Alhambra Transportation Commission. In addition, Fong also serves on the board of Goodwill Southern California and on the advisory board for LA’s BEST After School Enrichment Program. His long record of community service also includes having served as chair of the PBS Southern California Asian Pacific Islander Community Council, a member of the White Memorial Medical Center Community Leadership Council, and as president of the Asian Pacific Alumni of UCLA.
