Happiness abounds in Rizhao
In recent years, Rizhao city in Shandong province has continuously increased the government spending on public services and rolled out more supportive measures in terms of insurance, education, medical care, elderly care, housing and employment, so that local residents can have a greater sense of gains, happiness and security.

In 2021, Rizhao increased investment in people’s livelihoods and urban public service supply, and the annual expenditure for people’s livelihoods accounted for 80.2 percent of total, 1.2 percentage points higher than the provincial average, according to Zhang Hui, deputy to the National People’s Congress and Party secretary of Rizhao.
The standard of public funds per compulsory student, the proportion of medical insurance reimbursement and the per capita sports field area in Rizhao all ranked first in Shandong.

The city built 925 rural happiness centers and canteens for the elderly and 41 city study rooms, and renovated 160 old residential areas in 2021. It has been selected as one of China’s top 10 sports tourism destinations for three consecutive years. After-school services, national fitness programs, and the integration of sports and education have been promoted nationwide.
“In 2022, we will continue to put people first and take people’s longing for a better life as the goal to promote the high-quality development of Rizhao,” Zhang said.
