Asian American Leaders Endorse Joe Buscaino for Mayor

LA Councilmembers John Lee and David Ryu Joined Asian American Community Leaders at Press Conference Earlier Today

LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, Joe Buscaino announced the endorsement of key leaders in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community – among them Los Angeles City Councilmember John Lee and former Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu.

“We know that Asian Americans in our city have faced the rise of despicable anti-Asian hate crimes. This is unacceptable, and, as a former LAPD officer, I know what it takes to keep our communities safe,” said Joe Buscaino, candidate for Los Angeles Mayor. “I look forward to working in partnership with Asian and Pacific Islander communities to ensure the safety of all Los Angeles residents and combat such crimes.”

“Our city is truly at a crossroads. The people of our city have the opportunity to elect a leader who will either keep things the same or make the changes that are necessary to improve the quality of life for everyone here in the city,” said Councilmember John Lee. “On the City Council, there is always one person I can count on to make decisions that have the whole city in mind, and that’s Councilman Joe Buscaino. I hope the Asian community and City of Los Angeles will join me in supporting Joe Buscaino for our future mayor.”

“It is an honor to enthusiastically support Joe Buscaino. Joe knows our community, hears our community, and has been there for our community,” said former Councilmember David Ryu. “During these turbulent times, we need a person like Joe – a person who knows how to get things done, work across the aisle, be there for everyone, and be there for us.”
