RNC Statement on April Jobs Report

WASHINGTON — Today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) released the following statement on the April jobs report:

“Asian Americans continue to be crushed by Joe Biden’s failures on the economy as Asian American unemployment increased in April. This hits Asian American families when prices are up and real wages are down and they know Joe Biden is to blame.” – RNC Spokesman Nainoa Johsens

Background:

  • Asian American unemployment increased from 2.8% to 3.1% in April.
  • This jobs report that doesn’t change anything for struggling families.
  • Republican-led states are leading the way.
    • Republican-led states on average have recovered over 98 percent of their lost jobs compared to just 86 percent for Democrat-run states.
    • Out of the top 25 states with the lowest unemployment rates, 20 are led by Republican governors and 21 have Republican-controlled legislatures.
  • The American public’s view of the nation’s economy is the worst it’s been in a decade and Joe Biden is underwater on issues across the board.
    • 66% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of the economy.
    • 64% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling to helping the middle class.
    • 81% of Americans feel the government is doing too little to reduce inflation.
    • 55% of Americans feel Joe Biden’s policies have worsened economic conditions, while only 19% feel he has improved them.
    • 77% of Americans say the economic conditions in the country today are poor, only 23% say they are good.
    • As a result of economic conditions, 64% of Americans have changed the groceries they buy to stay in budget.
