Republicans Leading the Charge on Ending Race-Based College Admissions

Republican Congresswoman Michelle Steel and Senator Ted Cruz are leading the charge against race-based college admissions policies that hurt Asian American students while Democrats continue to support these discriminatory policies.

Rep. Steel, Sen. Cruz, and 80 of their colleagues filed an amicus brief Monday in support of the plaintiffs in two cases currently before the Supreme Court that could end racial preferences being used at places like Harvard and the University of North Carolina.

The amicus brief follows up on Rep. Steel’s Helping Applicants Receive Valid and Reasonable Decisions (HARVARD) Act which “would promote transparency at institutions of higher education by requiring them to list their usage of personality traits in admissions decisions.”

Joe Biden and Democrats are in favor of maintaining racial preferences in school admissions. Biden’s administration asked that the Supreme Court decide in favor of Harvard’s discriminatory policies, a complete reversal from President Donald Trump’s stance on the issue.

Bottom line: Democrats want to keep racial profiling in school admissions that hurt Asian American students while Republicans are against these discriminatory policies.

“Republicans are fighting back against race-based admissions policies that hurt Asian American students while Democrats support bringing back racial preferences in hiring and school admissions. Asian American voters will remember and hold Democrats accountable this November.” – said RNC Spokesman Nainoa Johsens
