Supervisor Hahn Applauds Funding to Fully Electrify Silver Line
San Pedro, CA – LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn is applauding funding included in Metro’s FY23 Budget to fully electrify the Silver Line bus route from San Pedro to El Monte.
“This year’s Metro Budget includes a lot of important investments including replacing the buses on the Silver Line with zero emissions electric buses,” said Supervisor Janice Hahn. “Harbor Area residents deserve quality, reliable transit that doesn’t contribute to the polluted air they have been dealing with for decades.”
Today the Metro Board of Directors unanimously voted for the FY23 Budget, which includes $70 million funding to fully electrify the Silver Line next year. Metro intends to replace all buses on the line with zero-emissions electric buses by June 2023.
In addition to electrification of the Silver Line, Metro’s $8.8 billion FY23 Budget includes funding to open the Crenshaw Line and Regional Connector, to improve speed and reliability of bus services throughout LA County, and to invest in customer experience initiatives, including more cleaning of buses and trains and a new transit ambassador program.
