Following the Recall Election of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, President of State’s Largest Retail Advocacy Organization Issues Official Statement
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (June 7, 2022) — Rachel Michelin, president and CEO of the California Retailers Association and a leading voice nationally in identifying solutions to rising crime and rampant retail theft, issued the following statement in response to San Francisco recalling its District Attorney, Chesa Boudin:
“Tonight’s recall of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin makes clear what Californians’ attitude has been for months — if district attorneys in California won’t provide consequences to those who repeatedly violate the law, then voters will provide consequences for district attorneys. The California Retailers Association is hopeful the recall of San Francisco’s District Attorney will mark a turning point so retail customers and employees need not fear becoming the victims of crime. We continue to stand ready to work with stakeholders across California on tangible solutions that make our neighborhoods, stores, and communities safer,” said Rachel Michelin, president and CEO of the California Retailers Association.
