Access to Safe Medical Abortions Remains Across LA County Department of Health Services Medical Facilities
LA County Department of Health Services Statement on Supreme Court’s Decision to Overturn Roe V. Wade
Los Angeles, Calif. (June 24, 2022) – In response to today’s Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the LA County Department of Health Services – the second largest public health care system in America – reaffirms its steadfast commitment to fulfill our responsibilities as a health care provider and offer the full scope of medical services, including access to safe abortion.
“Today we remind our patients and the communities we serve that both the State of California and Los Angeles County have reiterated their support for a woman’s right to choose and safely access abortion medical services,” said Director of LA County Department of Health Services Dr. Christina Ghaly. “Our doors at LA Health Services are as open and as welcoming as ever to all in need of medical services, including access to safe abortions.”
Further, in addition to continuing to support access to safe abortion medical services for California residents, both the State and County have reiterated their desire to serve as a “safe haven” for women outside of California who may be seeking safe abortion services.
