Senate confirms Steve Dettelbach to head ATF
The Senate voted 48-46 on Tuesday, mostly along party lines, to confirm President Biden’s nomination of Steve Dettelbach to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Dettelbach will be the first Senate-confirmed director to head the ATF since 2015, providing a small victory for Biden amid a rise of mass shootings in the U.S. His confirmation follows the president signing the most far-reaching gun control measure into law late last month.
