FORMER STATE SENATOR FRAN PAVLEY ENDORSES COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR SUPERVISOR
Former California Senator and Pioneer of Environmental and Climate Change Legislation Joins Horvath’s Campaign
LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, former California Senator Fran Pavley officially endorsed Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath’s bid for Los Angeles County Supervisor, District 3. A pioneer of environmental advocacy, Pavley joins a large coalition of climate leaders backing Horvath’s campaign.
“It’s impossible to overstate the urgent need for action on climate change mitigation and environmental justice policy,” said former State Senator Fran Pavley. “Under Councilwoman Horvath’s leadership, West Hollywood has opted into 100% renewable energy and adopted net zero policy goals, inspiring other cities to do the same. I am proud to endorse Councilwoman Horvath and look forward to seeing the progress she will make to lead Los Angeles to become a more sustainable, clean energy County.”
The Honorable Fran Pavley served two terms in the California State Senate for the 23rd and 27th districts and three terms in the California State Assembly for the 41st district. As a California representative, she authored and passed key climate policies such as AB 1493, AB 32, and SB 32 that established California as a national leader in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Known as “the mother of California climate change policy,” Pavley has traveled internationally to speak on climate policy and has attended UN Climate Conferences as a member of the California delegation. Today, Pavley is the Environmental Policy Director at the USC Schwarzenegger Institute and serves on several state and local advisory boards and committees.
“Senator Pavley’s leadership has been and will continue to be critical to our clean energy future, and I am honored to have her endorsement in my campaign,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “Her legacy as a champion of climate legislation significantly improved sustainability efforts across the nation and the globe. I look forward to following in her footsteps to guide Los Angeles County to achieve its climate goals and fight for environmental justice.”
