COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH REAFFIRMS SUPPORT OF VISION ACT
Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath Calls on State Senator and Supervisorial Candidate Bob Hertzberg to Support the Passage of the VISION Act to Protect Immigrant and Refugee Communities
LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath reaffirmed her support for Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo’s bill, AB 93, the Voiding Inequality and Seeking Inclusion for Our Immigrant Neighbors (VISION) Act, and called on State Senator Bob Hertzberg to support its crucial passage. The VISION Act would protect refugee and immigrant community members who have already been deemed eligible for release from being transferred by local jails and our state prison system to immigration detention.
“I firmly believe that the VISION Act is an important and necessary step to further protect our immigrant and refugee communities here in Los Angeles County. While my city passed a resolution in support of the VISION Act, State Senator Hertzberg has refused to support this bill,” said Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath. “As the next Los Angles County Supervisor, I will fight for our immigrant and refugee communities.”
The VISION Act would prohibit transfers to ICE and reunite refugee and immigrant families and communities, and it would lessen the impact of negative public health ramifications that result from the transferral of immigrants to and from ICE.
“I strongly support the Keep ICE out of California Coalition and the San Fernando Valley grassroots organizations that have been fighting for the passage of the VISION Act, and I encourage Senator Hertzberg to support this critical piece of legislation needed to protect the very communities that we are each vying to represent on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.”
Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath is competing against State Senator Bob Hertzberg in the race for Los Angeles County Supervisor, District 3.
