Nation’s Largest Hospital Housestaff Union Joins Growing List of Working Families Supporting Horvath’s Bid for Supervisor

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the campaign for Lindsey P. Horvath for Los Angeles County Supervisor announced the endorsement of The Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU (CIR/SEIU), a local of Service Employees International Union which represents more than 20,000 interns, residents, and fellows in California, Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, and Washington, D.C.

“Councilwoman Horvath’s tireless advocacy for healthcare & healthcare workers, such as hero pay legislation during the pandemic and fighting for healthcare coverage for everyone, shows her support for our members and understanding of the challenges we face,” said  Dr. Mahima Iyengar, CIR Regional Vice President and Internal Medicine/Pediatric physician. “CIR/SEIU is proud to stand with Lindsey and officially endorse her for Los Angeles County Supervisor.”

Founded in 1957, CIR/SEIU is devoted to improving the healthcare system by advancing patient care, increasing access to healthcare, and enhancing residency training and education through collective bargaining, organizing, and advocacy.
