his Abstention on Critical Legislation
Los Angeles, CA – Today, Councilwoman and Candidate for LA County Supervisor District 3 Lindsey Horvath expressed her disappointment and frustration with State Senator Hertzberg on his abstention on AB937, the VISION Act.
“I share the disappointment and anger of the many activists, advocates, and state legislators who have worked tirelessly to get the support of State Senator Hertzberg for this critical piece of legislation, AB937,” said Councilwoman Lindsey P. Horvath. “Unfortunately, for Senator Hertzberg, public pressure and overwhelming support from the people were not enough to overcome the wishes of his special interest backers.”
“State Senator Hertzberg’s career in the State Legislature may be over, but our fight is not. Unless we want him to bring his backwards-facing policies and failed leadership to LA County, it is imperative that we defeat him at the ballot box by November 8 in the race for LA County Supervisor. The stakes are too high.”
AB937, the VISION Act, would have ended California’s two-tiered system of justice that deeply impacts, harms, and disenfranchises members of our immigrant community. This bill failed by three votes.
