YES ON ULA STATEMENT ON THE ALLIANCE HOMELESSNESS SETTLEMENT

Coalition highlights the “new resources to address homelessness” that Measure ULA would marshal to “stop homelessness before it starts.”

LOS ANGELES, CA —  In response to the announcement of a settlement agreement by LA County, LA City, and the LA Alliance for Human Rights, the YES ON ULA coalition issued the following statement:

“The settlement reached by LA City, LA County and the Alliance mentions the possibility of Measure ULA bringing new resources to address homelessness if voters approve it this November. Two important features of Measure ULA are that it sets aside funds for homelessness prevention and also for affordable housing innovation.

“The housing and homelessness crises will never be ended by business as usual. We need to stop homelessness before it starts, and Measure ULA includes direct payments to keep seniors and people with disabilities in their homes as well as legal services to prevent unfair evictions from driving people into homelessness. Measure ULA also includes innovative solutions that will create affordable housing faster and at a lower cost than what has been tried before, including buying existing buildings and cutting financing red tape.”
