Former Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee Joe Lieberman Endorses Lanhee Chen for State Controller
Mountain View, CA (October 13, 2022) – Today, Lanhee Chen, candidate for State Controller, announced the endorsement of Senator Joe Lieberman.
“During an era when political divisiveness too often wins the day, I still believe in bipartisanship,” Senator Lieberman said. “That’s why I’m supporting Lanhee Chen for California Controller. His victory would send a powerful message to red and blue states alike—that reasonable, responsible, open-minded, and competent candidates can still run for office in polarized places, and win. Lanhee has a proven record of working across the aisle, and voters can feel confident that, once in office, he will do what he believes is right for California, no matter the politics.”
Chen added, “I’m honored that a national leader and problem solver like Senator Lieberman has lent his support to my campaign. Together, we will continue to build a winning coalition of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. Our message is resonating with Californians of all backgrounds who understand that our next Controller needs to be a watchdog for taxpayers, not a lapdog for the Sacramento insiders.”
Senator Lieberman, the Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee in 2000, served 24 years in the United States Senate, retiring in January 2013 following the end of his fourth term. He served in many leadership roles, including as chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs. Prior to being elected to the Senate, Senator Lieberman served as the Attorney General of the State of Connecticut for six years. He also served 10 years in the Connecticut State Senate, including three terms as majority leader.
