ASSEMBLYMEMBER WENDY CARRILLO ENDORSES COUNCILWOMAN LINDSEY HORVATH FOR LA COUNTY SUPERVISOR
Los Angeles, CA – Adding to the expanding list of local Los Angeles leaders lining up behind Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath’s campaign for County Supervisor, today Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo joined Team Horvath.
“Councilwoman Lindsey Horvath will fight for equity and justice for all Angelenos,” said Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo. “LA needs a leader who will put forward inclusive, progressive policy, and I know that Lindsey is the right person to do that as Supervisor.”
Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo was elected to serve in the California State Assembly in December 2017. She represents the 52nd Assembly District in LA County, home to close to 500,000 residents in the City of Los Angeles, unincorporated East Los Angeles, and includes some of the city’s most historic and iconic communities. Carrillo’s legislative career is defined by her commitment to equity, justice, and opportunity. She successfully fought for paid sick leave, better pay and working conditions, resources for small businesses, and a more sustainable California. Recently, she authored the VISION Act (AB 937) to protect community members who have already been deemed eligible for release from being transferred by local jails and our state prison system to immigration detention.
“As one of the most diverse regions in the country, Los Angeles needs leaders who fight for equity and resources in Los Angeles County. I was proud to see Assemblymember Wendy Carrillo use her power and her voice for change, especially to advance the VISION Act, which failed passage due to lack of support from my opponent,” said Councilwoman Horvath. “I am honored to have her endorsement, and I look forward to working together on advancing the goals of the VISION Act as well as our shared vision for LA County as Supervisor.”
