Welcome Reception for the new P.R China Consul General in Los Angeles

Universal, CA (April 21. 2023) – The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles on Thursday (20 April) hosted the welcome reception in honor of H.E. Guo Shaochun, newly-appointed consul general of China to Los Angeles.

Veteran Chinese diplomat H.E Guo Shaochun is the new Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles. H.E. Mr. Guo Shaochun arrived in Los Angeles with his wife Mrs. Wang Wei on February 1st, 2023 and assumed his office.

“We look forward to making concerted efforts with friends from all walks of life to promote communication and mutual understanding between the two countries and peoples, advance pragmatic and win-win cooperation, promote the sound and steady development of China-US relations, and bring more well-beings to our peoples.”

Guo Shaochun made the remarks during welcome reception at the Universal Hilton last night. Several hundred guests, many of whom were from the local Chinese community or diplomatic circles, attended the event that was held to welcome him to his new post in Los Angeles.

“China is the largest trading partner of California, the second largest of Arizona and New Mexico, and the third largest of Hawaii. Many US cities in my consular district have established sister city relationship with cities in China. The sister city relations continue to prosper between Guangzhou and Los Angeles, Qingdao and Long Beach, Chengdu and Phoenix . The sub-national cooperation between China and the US has created millions of jobs in the US, and enabled consumers of both countries to enjoy high-quality products and services.” Said Guo

Since he landed in Los Angelese two months ago, he has had deep and delightful communication with friends from all walks of life, from which he felt their sincerity and affection towards China, as well as their eager desires for promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and the U.S. He expressed his hopes of collaborating with the communities in his consular district to facilitate such cooperation.

“Over the past two months since I assumed office, I have been impressed by the warmth and hospitality of local people, the diversity and vitality of Los Angeles, the good momentum and great potential of sub-national exchange and cooperation, as well as the earnest expectation of Chinese and American people for China-US relationship to maintain stable.” Said Guo.
