Jinan eyes further cooperation, exchanges with Finland

Liu Qiang, Party secretary of Jinan, Shandong province, met a delegation led by Finnish ambassador to China Leena-Kaisa Mikkola on May 8.

The purpose of the meeting was to further promote exchanges and cooperation between Jinan and Finland.

Jinan, the capital of Shandong province, has rich traditional Chinese cultural resources and is home to over 1,200 springs, according to Liu.

Jinan presently has a population of over 10 million, an economic aggregate of more than 1.2 trillion yuan ($173.24 billion), a well-connected transportation network, outstanding scientific and technological innovation strength, and prominent advantages in the digital economy, Liu noted.

Liu expressed hope that the Finnish ambassador to China and her delegation will enjoy their visit and further promote cooperation and exchange with Jinan.

Mikkola said she hopes that Finland and Jinan will continue to cooperate closely in energy, education, construction and other fields, and that she is looking to encourage more Finnish enterprises to invest in Jinan.

She also expressed hope that Finland and Jinan will strengthen communication, promote people-to-people exchanges, maintain friendly relations and achieve win-win cooperation.
