Alhambra Vice Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez Advances Gun Safety Legislation
ALHAMBRA, CA (September 12th, 2023) – On Monday, September 11th, Vice Mayor Sasha Renee Perez introduced a motion to forward legislation to increase gun safety in Alhambra. The motion, which was unanimously supported by the Alhambra City Council, includes a moratorium on new firearm businesses and a ban on concealed weapons in public spaces in Alhambra.
Speaking on the ordinances advanced by the City Council, Vice Mayor Sasha Renée Pérez expressed her commitment to continuing to increase gun safety in the City of Alhambra and greater San Gabriel Valley community.
“These are items that have been long overdue in the City of Alhambra and I am thankful for my colleagues’ continued support on advancing common sense gun reform,” said Vice Mayor Pérez. “While we value the rights of responsible gun owners, we also prioritize the safety and well-being of our community and residents.”
City staff is expected to return with an ordinance for the City Council to review at the September 25th meeting.
