Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles Hosts 2023 National Day Reception

Universal City, CA (September 26, 2023) – The Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles hosted a reception on Tuesday evening to mark the 74th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), which falls on Oct. 1.

The event, held at the Hilton Universal City Hotel, was attended by nearly 600 guests, including California Treasurer Fiona Ma, California state assembly member Mike Fang, as the guests of honor, and principals of Chinese associations, representatives of overseas Chinese students and senior managers of China enterprises, attended the reception and the atmosphere was grand and ardent. The guests extended their best wishes to people’s well-being and the everlasting friendship between China and the United States.

In his welcome speech, Guo Shaochun, Chinese consul-general in Los Angeles, highlighted China’s remarkable development through 74 years of hard work.

Consul General Guo pointed out that “As the two largest economies, China and the U.S. enjoy economic complementarity and deeply intertwined interests. Over 70,000 American companies are investing and operating in China, of which nearly 90 percent are earning profits. A lot of CEOs from U.S. top business have visited China recently, casting a vote of confidence in China’s economy and market prospects.”

“China will only open up wider to the world. China’s middle- income group is going to exceed 800 million within the next 15 years, which means an expanding market and increasing cooperation opportunities. China will adhere to a high level of opening up and inject energy and impetus into world economic growth with its own stability and continuity. All countries are most welcome to share the new opportunities brought by China’s new development.” He said.

Treasurer Fiona Ma gave a vivid introduction of her recent trip with her father to Yunnan China emphasizing her dedication to promoting exchanges and cooperation between California and China in the fields of people, government, trade and education.
