Bement School Student Zimo (Iris) Zhu Won Third Prize Of The John Locke Institute’s 2023 Global Essay Competition

Deerfield, MA (October 23, 2023) – It is reported that the just-concluded global essay competition John Locke released the list. Iris Zhu from Bement school in Massachusetts, USA, won third place in the Junior group.

She is one of the 24 grand prize winners. As a guest speaker specially invited by the organizing committee, she shared her creative motivations and ideas in Oxford. She is a recent immigrant from China living in Irvine, Los Angeles.

The organizing committee of the 2023 competition received more than 19,000 entries from 138 countries around the world, Iris Zhu is the only winning student from the United States of the Junior category.

Iris loves writing and serves as the editor-in-chief of the school magazine as well as the president of the student union at Bement School. She is the flutist of the school orchestra, also is passionate about sports and is keen on mountain biking, squash, skiing and is the MVP of the schools’ La Crosse school team.

She said: She has made many excellent and smart friends in Oxford which gave her a lot of inspiration, that was her biggest reward.
