Barger Issues Statement on L.A. County Ending Emergency Proclamations for Lake and Bobcat Wildfires
Los Angeles, CA Nov. 21, 2023 – Today, Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued the following statement in response to the Board of Supervisors voting unanimously to end the local emergency proclamations for the Lake Fire and Bobcat Fire – both of which took place in 2020:
“I’m glad we’ve reached a point where our local Office of Emergency Management feels confident in recommending the termination of the emergency proclamation for each of these devastating fires.
It takes a long time to help wildfire survivors recover. Sadly, some survivors never do.
I want to make sure that my constituents who were impacted by these wildfires know that, despite administratively ending the proclamations, the County still stands ready to provide technical assistance and guidance as needed. The Office of Emergency Management can provide help for dealing with insurance claims, for example, and serves as a community resource. It’s always hard to recover and rebuild. You’re not alone.”
