LA County Library Unveils $12.6 Million Renovation at West Covina Library with Special Open House Celebration Featuring Supervisor Hilda L. Solis

Los Angeles, CA – LA County Library is thrilled to announce the grand reopening of one of its beloved locations, West Covina Library, with a special open house celebration on Wednesday, June 5, from 1:30 -3:30 pm.

The community is invited to join Supervisor Hilda L. Solis of Los Angeles County’s First District and LA County Library for an afternoon celebrating the much-anticipated reopening. This event will feature a variety of exciting activities, fantastic giveaways, and a special ceremony with Supervisor Solis, City of West Covina Mayor Brian Calderon Tabatabai, and LA County Library Director Skye Patrick.

“Libraries are a vital educational resource, serve as voting centers, and provide a safe space for residents of every age to gather and learn,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, who represents the First District. “That’s why I am so pleased that the West Covina Library is reopening after undergoing a series of much-needed renovations. The County of Los Angeles’s $12.6 million investment will ensure that the facility remains a space of hope and inspiration for our community for this generation and the ones to follow.”

“After a period of extensive renovations, we are delighted to welcome everyone back to the West Covina Library,” said Skye Patrick, LA County Library Director. “Our goal has always been to create a vibrant, welcoming space for our neighbors, and we can’t wait to share the new and improved library with everyone.”

Renovation Highlights:

The West Covina Library has undergone a $12.6 million renovation, transforming it into a modern, inviting, and highly functional space for everyone. The upgrade includes new furniture, shelving and flooring throughout the library to enhance the visitor experience.  Key areas such as the Teen Space, Children’s Library, and Adult Reading Area were significantly improved to better serve the diverse needs of the community. Additionally, the new technology installations and new layout enhancements ensure that the West Covina Library will continue to offer quality resources and services to its neighbors.

General Upgrades:

  • New furniture, shelving, and flooring throughout the library
  • New Circulation and Reference Desks
  • New murals at the Library entrance, Teen Space, Children’s Library, and Adult Reading Areas
  • New Computer Stations and lounge seating in the Computer Area
  • 4 large Adult Reading tables, each seating up to six with integrated power modules
  • Large new open Adult Reading Area

Teen Space:

  • New Teen Space with a large group work table seating 10
  • New round group work/study table seating
  • New Group Study Room with audio-visual equipment

Children’s Library:

  • Reconfigured Children’s Library with a new Early Childhood area featuring seating for children and parents/guardians
  • New Homework Center

Technology Enhancements:

  • 16 Adult computer stations
  • New Laptop vending machine with 24 laptops for in-library public use
  • Three self-checkout machines
  • New digital display screen
  • New HVAC system
