ASSEMBLYWOMAN LORENA GONZALEZ FLETCHER ENDORSES MIKE ENG FOR STATE SENATE

EL MONTE, CA — Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher (D-San Diego) today announced her endorsement of Democrat Mike Eng for the open 22nd State Senate District.

“Mike Eng brings people together to fight for change on behalf of working families. Mike has built a remarkable coalition of women and men from ALL communities in his diverse district — because he has a proven track record as a champion for local schools and community colleges, affordable health care for all, and safer neighborhoods. I’m proud to join the Democratic Party and the L.A. County Federation of Labor in support of Mike Eng for State Senate,” she concluded.

“It’s a true honor to be endorsed by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher. Lorena is the first Latina in California history to Chair the powerful Assembly Appropriations Committee and serves as Vice Chair of the California Legislative Latino Caucus and Chairwoman of the Select Committee on Women in the Workplace. She has distinguished herself as a progressive champion for workers and women’s rights and I look forward to partnering with her in Sacramento to fight for these important issues,” Eng concluded.

Mike’s campaign for State Senate has gathered a huge amount of momentum lately with major endorsements from Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher and organizations including the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and the California Democratic Party. All of the best-known District leaders – including incumbent Senator Ed Hernandez, Supervisors Hilda Solis and Kathryn Barger, Congressmembers Judy Chu and Grace Napolitano and Assemblymember Ed Chau – are supporting Mike.

Mike Eng previously served in the State Assembly, on the L.A. Community College District Board of Trustees, and on the Monterey Park City Council.
