Beijing Film Academy Thesis films exhibition in USC

Latest 30 years Graduation Works Exhibition of Beijing Film Academy presented about 10 outstanding student made short films to southern California Chinese filmmakers recently in UCLA and USC.

May 23rd, BFA faculty, Youth Film Studio producer Wang Xiang shared 5 works at USC Cinematic School with about 50 local filmmakers and students.

5 short films: Suspect, Too young to know, JingSheng Xie, Cabbage Pickle, Somenone, time range from 1999 to 2016.

Alumnus of UCLA, designer Jinliang Chen said, it’s a great chance to know Chinese films enhancement in 30 years from those works.  Most of the films are not published, these series of exhibitions are the only way for one to have an idea of what the best graduation works in one of the top film school in the world looks like.

Since many of the films and the audience share the same Chinese culture background, this exhibition started a discussion on what will the Chinese film language be like in the near future? And how these students and young professionals help create new film language and add diversity for the art of film?

It also provides a platform for the film students to exchange their ideas with the experienced film makers and to learn the first hand experience direct from the industry.

The exhibition co-curators are Mengdi Tao of USC Cinematic School PhD candidate and Associate Professor Rui Yao visiting scholar at UCLA.

The film school of Beijing Film Academy is the largest institution specializing in the tertiary education for film and television production in Asia. The academy has earned international recognition for its achievements in film production.
