PLAN AHEAD: STATE ROUTE 60 EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND FULLY CLOSED OVERNIGHT BETWEEN LEMON AVE AND DIAMOND BAR BLVD ON SEPTEMBER 28

(Diamond Bar, CA) – As part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow and enhance safety through the 57/60 Confluence, the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments (SGVCOG) will implement a full closure of State Route 60 (SR-60) in both eastbound and westbound directions between Lemon Avenue and Diamond Bar Boulevard in the City of Diamond Bar.

The closure is scheduled to begin Sunday, September 28 at 12:00 a.m. and will remain in place until 8:00 a.m. the same day.

In preparation for the closure, multiple on- and off-ramps along State Route 60 (SR-60), as well as connectors to and from State Route 57 (SR-57) will begin closing as early as 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27.

Signed detour routes will be in place to guide motorists around the closure area. Drivers are strongly encouraged to plan ahead, use alternate routes, and allow for additional travel time.

The 57/60 Confluence Chokepoint Relief Project is a partnership between SGVCOG, LA Metro, Caltransand the Cities of Industry and Diamond Bar, and it aims to relieve congestion, improve safety, and support goods movement. Improvements include redesigned ramps and interchanges, addition of mainline and bypass lanes, and safer traffic flow to eliminate dangerous weaving.

The 57/60 Confluence is a vital freeway interchange connecting Los Angeles, Orange, and San Bernardino counties, carrying over 350,000 vehicles daily through Diamond Bar and the City of Industry. Due to heavy truck traffic, limited lanes, and dangerous merging patterns, it is considered the worst truck bottleneck in California and ranked the seventh-worst in the nation according to the American Transportation Research Institute, and is among the highest truck accident locations in Southern California.

This temporary closure is necessary to support critical construction activities for the 57/60 Confluence Chokepoint Relief Project, which is designed to alleviate congestion, improve traffic operations, and enhance roadway safety at one of the most heavily traveled corridors in the country. The closure will help ensure motorist safety while crews demolish a section of the existing Grand Avenue Bridge.

Motorists should expect delays, plan ahead, and use the detour routes. The public can stay up to date on closure information and detour routes by visiting the project website at www.sgvcog.org/5760project or following @5760Project on social media.
