Former Senate Candidate Monica Garcia Endorses Mike Eng for State Senate
EL MONTE, CA — Baldwin Park Councilwoman and former State Senate Candidate Monica Garcia today announced her strong support for State Senate candidate Mike Eng, a longtime educator, attorney and public servant. Eng, a Democrat, is running to succeed Senator Ed Hernandez in the San Gabriel Valley’s 22nd District.
In announcing her endorsement, Councilwoman Garcia stated “I’m supporting Mike Eng for State Senate because he has the proven integrity, experience and commitment to stand up for the people of the San Gabriel Valley. Mike brings people from all communities together to work for positive change. I’m proud to be joining our local firefighters, nurses, deputies and teachers who also endorse Mike Eng for State Senate.”

Mike’s campaign for State Senate had a resounding 20-point win margin on June 5th for the 2018 primary election, with over 45% of the vote. Councilwoman Garcia garnered over 20% of the primary election day vote. Mike Eng’s campaign for State Senate continues to gather momentum post-primary day election with endorsements from Councilwoman Monica Garcia who joined other major endorsers such as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the California National Organization for Women, California Federation of Labor, the California Democratic Party, and the vast majority of local elected officials from communities within the 22nd State Senate District. All of the best-known District leaders – including incumbent Senator Ed Hernandez, Supervisors Hilda Solis and Kathryn Barger, Congressmembers Judy Chu and Grace Napolitano and Assemblymember Ed Chau – are supporting Mike.
Mike Eng previously served in the State Assembly, on the L.A. Community College District Board of Trustees, and on the Monterey Park City Council.
