Registration Deadline Approaches for Free Ownership Services Tech Program at Mt. SAC

Tuition-Free Online Course Begins June 22; Offers a Pathway to Careers in Property Assessment

LOS ANGELES, CA — The deadline is fast approaching to register for the next session of the Ownership Services Technician Program, a tuition-free vocational course offered by Mt. San Antonio College in partnership with the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office.

The six-week online program begins June 22, 2026, and provides specialized training in California change-in-ownership laws and procedures used to determine when real property must be reassessed. Students who successfully complete the program may be eligible to apply for the position of Ownership Services Technician I with the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office.

“Whether you are looking to begin a career in public service or expand your knowledge of property ownership law, this program offers exceptional training at no cost,” said Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang.  “I encourage anyone interested in real estate, legal services, or government to apply before registration closes.”


Program Details

  • Dates: June 22, 2026 – July 30, 2026
  • Schedule: Mondays and Thursdays
  • Time: 6:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
  • Format: Live online instruction via Zoom
  • Additional Coursework: Five hours per week outside class
  • Tuition: Free

Students will learn fundamental concepts covered in Section 401 of the California Assessor’s Handbook, including:

  • Forms of individual property ownership
  • Life estates and estates for years
  • Trusts
  • Leases
  • Legal entities
