APEC High-Level Forum Issued Statement on AI Development in the Asia-Pacific
Issued by the 2026 APEC High-Level Forum on AI
Chengdu, People’s Republic of China, 24 July 2026Ministers, senior officials, business leaders, researchers and representatives from international organizations gathered today at the APEC High-Level Forum on AI to discuss how the Asia-Pacific can advance artificial intelligence that is secure, responsible and inclusive.
The forum was held under the theme, “Promoting AI Development for Good and for All,” as part of APEC Digital Weeks 2026.
The forum concluded with the issuance of the Statement on Promoting AI Development in the Asia-Pacific Region, which encourages cooperation in four priority areas:
- promoting the secure development and deployment of AI;
- accelerating the responsible adoption of AI applications;
- fostering an enabling environment for AI innovation; and
- fostering broad-based cooperation to maximize participation and benefits across APEC
