SUP. HORVATH’S STATEMENT ON LOS ANGELES COUNTY’S DESIGNATION AS CONTINUUM OF CARE (COC) LEAD

LOS ANGELES, CA – Today, the Los Angeles Continuum of Care (CoC) General Membership designated Los Angeles County as lead for all functions of the CoC: Collaborative Applicant, Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Lead, Coordinated Entry System (CES) Management Entity, and Point-in-Time (PIT) Count Administrator.

Following the vote, Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath shares the following statement:

“The status quo has failed too many people, and it is time for a different approach. Today, Los Angeles County continues to reject the failures of LAHSA by stepping in to lead as the new Continuum of Care for the region.

The County has agreed on a partnership model with the City of Los Angeles that provides them the access they have long desired and provides the accountability mechanisms long missing from our regional system.

No one jurisdiction can end homelessness alone, but every jurisdiction – all 88 cities and 100+ unincorporated communities – must do their part. Our success must be measured by how many people we move off the streets with care to stay housed for good.”
