John Cox Visited Carr Fire Zone Tuesday Afternoon
Redding, Calif. — John Cox visited the people, first responders, and areas affected by the Carr Fire, this afternoon.
Cox was invited by area Congressman Doug LaMalfa and State Senator Jim Nielsen and they were briefed by first responders at the Anderson Operations Center. Following the briefing Cox, Nielsen, and LaMalfa toured Keswick, Redding, and Anderson zones devastated by the fire .
The Carr fire is the largest fire burning through northern California and the ninth largest in state history, having so far destroyed over 110,000 acres, forcing 38,000 people to be evacuated, and claiming six lives.
“I’m heartbroken seeing the loss of life and devastation the Carr fire has caused,” Cox said. “It was important for me to get a first hand look at this tragedy and speak with those impacted. I’m grateful to Congressman LaMalfa and Senator Nielsen for the invitation.”
“The men and women on the front lines fighting the fire – all the first responders are heroes and my prayers are with them. They are doing amazing work.” Cox said.
