Hermosa Kiwanis Foundation celebrates 10th annual Taste at the Beach
Wines and favorite dishes from local restaurants highlight the Hermosa Kiwanis Foundation’s 10th annual Taste at the Beach, which takes place Saturday, Sept. 8, in the courtyard of Hermosa Beach Community Center, located at 710 Pier Ave.
Over the past decade, the Kiwanis Hermosa Beach has raised more than $1 million that has benefited local charities, Hermosa Beach schools, as well as national charities, according to its website. This year the proceeds from Taste at the Beach benefit many local charities including Hermosa Beach schools, Richstone Family Center, Hermosa Beach Education Foundation, PS I Love You Foundation, Hermosa Beach Little League, the Veterans Memorial and Children’s Cancer Research.
“In prior years we use to select a single beneficiary for the proceeds of the event,” said event chair Yvonne Amarillas. “However, since the Kiwanis foundation receives so many requests from nonprofit organizations for support, we decided that this year’s proceeds would go to the Kiwanis foundation in order to spread it out to the many nonprofits that the foundation supports that are in need.”
The event features fine wines, craft brews, dishes from local restaurants, live jazz by the Brian Sisson Trio and a silent auction.
“The items are donated by local merchants and this year the merchants have been especially generous,” Amarillas said.
Tickets for the event, which takes place from 3 to 6 p.m., are $65, or $75 at the door, and are available at tasteatthebeach.org.
