LOS ANGELES COUNTY POLICE CHIEFS AND PROFESSIONAL PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATIONS ENDORSE MIKE ENG FOR STATE SENATE
EL MONTE, CA — The Los Angeles County Police Chiefs Association, consisting of the Police Chief Executives of the 45 independent cities in Los Angeles County, announced that they have endorsed Democrat Mike Eng for the 22nd State Senate seat. Senator Ed Hernandez, who is termed out, currently represents the district and is also supporting Mike Eng.
The Chiefs Association focuses on advancing the science and art of police administration and crime prevention in Los Angeles County; coordinating the implementation of law enforcement efforts by local law enforcement leaders; and developing, teaching, and disseminating professional law enforcement practices.
The Professional Peace Officers Association represents the Sergeants and Lieutenants serving in the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department.
“Mike Eng is a proven leader in the fight for safer neighborhoods and schools,” stated Brian Moriguchi, President of the L.A. County Professional Peace Officers Association. “He voted for Chelsea’s Law to strengthen prison terms for child molesters, and voted to close loopholes that allow some sex offenders to avoid incarceration.”
“I’m proud and honored to be endorsed by the Police Chiefs and the Professional Peace Officers who serve the communities of the 22nd Senate District in the San Gabriel Valley, and Los Angeles County as a whole,” Eng said. “Neighborhood safety has always been a top priority to me as a lawmaker, educator and City Councilmember. Having the support of local enforcement means a lot to me personally,” Eng concluded.
Mike Eng is also endorsed by the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs, California Association of Highway Patrolmen, Peace Officers Research Association of California and the National Latino Peace Officers Association – Advocacy.
Mike’s campaign for State Senate had a resounding 19-point margin and placed first on June 5th 2018 primary election, with over 45% of the vote. Mike has continued to build momentum after the primary by earning endorsements of the Mexican American Bar Association PAC, from former Senate Candidate and Baldwin Park Councilwoman Monica Garcia, who joined other major endorsers such as Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the California National Organization for Women, California Federation of Labor, and the California Democratic Party. All of the best-known District leaders – including incumbent Senator Ed Hernandez (who is a candidate for Lieutenant Governor), Supervisors Hilda Solis and Kathryn Barger, Congressmembers Judy Chu and Grace Napolitano and Assemblymember Ed Chau – are supporting Mike.
