2019 – Universe Multicultural Film Festival
A Home for Stories, A Gift for Storytellers
This year, the Universe Multicultural Film Festival will be celebrating its annual event from April 5th – 7th along the beautiful California Coast in Rancho Palos Verdes. As waves crash along the shore of Malaga Cove, filmmakers from all over the world will be coming together to share their unique and compelling stories. With around 100 officially selections from over 15 different countries, the Universe Multicultural Film Festival is building the bridge between different cultures so that anyone can enjoy the art of not only domestic films but also films from our friends around the world. All films will be screening during the three day festival.
With performances from local and international artists, the Opening Gala will be an unforgettable night to kick off the three-day event. Throughout the festival, attendees and filmmakers are welcome to attend any of our six panels: Pitch & Catch, Multicultural Screenplay, Produce Global Films, Working with China Funded Movies, Distributor Mixer and Audition for Multicultural Movies. All panel speakers are industry professionals coming to share their stories and experiences with a global audience. Regardless if you live and breathe filmmaking or you simply find joy in watching stories unfold on the big screen, UMFF has something for you.
All of the rainfall in California this year has blessed the residents of Palos Verdes with beautiful flowers, crisp air and the occasional rainbow. Despite the rain season coming to an end, Palos Verdes has not yet seen the last of the rainbows, which may even have a pot of gold at the end. On Sunday, April 7th, the red carpet will be rolled out; filmmakers and audience members will be representing their culture in traditional garments. The mixture of all different colors will create our Rainbow Carpet which will lead into the Award Ceremony Gala which one can say is a film makers pot of gold. This momentous event will be filled with performances and award. Laughter will fill the room and tears of joy will be shed in this closing ceremony that strives to commemorate all festival participants for their hard work. And who knows, perhaps some Hollywood icons may show up to add one more treasure to this golden pot.
