Thursday, April 11, 2019 – 9:30am

Freeport-McMoRan recently received the State of Arizona’s highest honor for volunteerism as a recipient of the 2018 Governor’s Volunteer Service Awards in the Stewardship category.

These annual awards recognize individual and organizational volunteer efforts that strengthen Arizona communities and improve quality of life.

The volunteer force behind the award were some 2,000 employees and their families who, in 2018, volunteered their time – 10,646 hours – and talents to various projects addressing local community needs. Some of these activities included school presentations, community cleanups and working with nonprofit organizations such as the Audubon Society.

In addition to making a hands-on difference through volunteer service, these employees made a difference through personal charitable giving. The Freeport-McMoRan Foundation contributed more than $4.4 million to Arizona nonprofits and communities in 2018.
