STATE BUILDING TRADES GIVE POTENT ENDORSEMENT TO NEWMAN IN SENATE REMATCH BID

Josh Newman Backed by State Building and Construction Trades Council of California in SD-29 Contest

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — In the latest reflection of his outstanding track record fighting for working class families, today U.S. Army veteran, businessman, and former State Senator Josh Newman garnered a critical endorsement from the State Building and Construction Trades Council of California in his rematch race for Senate District 29.

In a statement released with the announced endorsement, Cesar Diaz, Legislative and Political Director of the State Building & Construction Trades Council of California, remarked:

“The State Building and Construction Trades Council of California is proud to support Josh Newman in his campaign for State Senate. Josh Newman’s independent voice and no-nonsense approach to leadership has delivered good jobs, good pay and a growing California economy. We need him in Sacramento to fight for us, and our families. From promoting our state-of-the-art apprenticeship programs to protecting the retirement savings that we’ve earned, Josh has a record of getting things done for the men and women in the trades. We look forward to continuing to work with Josh as an active partner in ensuring that our diverse California workforce will continue to thrive in construction careers.”

Last week, Newman secured unanimous backing from grassroots delegates at the California Democratic Party’s Pre-Endorsement Conference, capturing all 66 eligible votes from the 29th Senate District Caucus.  The unanimous vote ensures that Newman’s name will be placed on the consent calendar at the upcoming California Democratic Convention for the party’s official endorsement.

Recently, Newman’s campaign released a new digital video ad titled “Better Senator,” which highlights his independent, common-sense agenda and features the campaign’s branded ice cream truck, where voters can talk about important issues with the former Senator and his team, while enjoying a complimentary “Better Senator” ice cream sandwich.
