“Embrace China – Charming Jiangsu” Dance Drama “Search” North America Tour Perfectly Closed in Los Angeles

36 dancers of the China Wuxi Song and Dance Troupe presented a wonderful dance drama ”Search” to hunderds of local Chinese residents and American in San Gabriel Mission Playhouse on October 26 evening. As the last stop of 2019 “Embrace China-Charming Jiangsu” grand performances in 8 cities of North America, the Los Angeles performance, jointly hosted by All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese (AFROC) and Jiangsu provincial government.The performance provided an opportunity for overseas Chinese and Americans to enjoy contemporary Chinese dancing art and celebrate the 70th China anniversary.

 

The dance drama “Search” is a successful exploration of the fusion of Chinese and Western cultures after the international dance drama “Red-crowned Crane” of Wuxi City Song and Dance Theater. The “Search” is by the artists of Wuxi City Song and Dance Theater and the Canadian Victoria Ballet and Winnipeg Ballet. Co-edited dance drama. Peter Quanz, the famous Canadian dance choreographer and independent dance producer, is the general director. It tells the story of the Wumen paintings, Su Qin and Dong Yu, who lost their loved ones in a sketch. Sophie was adopted by a Canadian couple and grew up in Canada. The 36-member North American tour crew of the dance drama “Search” was led by Mr. Liu Zhongbao, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, Chairman of Jiangsu Dancers Association, and Ms. Li Yili and Vice President of Wuxi Song and Dance Theatre (Jiangsu National Dance Theatre). The dance drama has gathered outstanding actors from China and Canada. Bai Yuhao and Zhang Yiyi, outstanding young actors of Wuxi Song and Dance Theatre, played the leading roles respectively; Julia Jones-Whitehead, the chief female ballet dancer of the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Canada, and Peter Nicholas Taylor, the chief male ballet dancer of the Canadian Victoria Ballet, respectively Play the 2nd leading roles.

 

The overall arrangement of the dance drama is modern and simple. The movement design is clean, neat and smooth. It combines classical ballet, modern dance, Chinese classical dance and other artistic elements. It is a great artistic attempt of Chinese and Western art. The blending of Chinese and Western cultures highlights the international pop art fashion, making the dance drama “Search” a rare piece of the original original modern ballet.

 

Liu Zhongbao, vice chairman of the Jiangsu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, chairman of the Provincial Dancers Association, and artistic director of the Wuxi Song and Dance Theater, said that “Search” uses ballet, Chinese classical dance, Jiangnan folk dance and modern dance to blend, lighting and curtains to make the story express. Li Yili, deputy dean of Wuxi Song and Dance Theatre, said that the drama expressed the great love between the people of all countries within 70 minutes and promoted the friendship between China and the West through the bond of culture and art.
