Enjoy the outdoors at Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park
With a half-mile path, scenic lake, Bio Blitz and much more!
We are thrilled to invite you to visit the newly transformed Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park. Located in Willowbrook, the expansive community regional park is the perfect place to enjoy time outdoors safely during COVID-19. Plan your visit today! Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park features new children’s play areas, a half-mile path for walking and jogging, a scenic lake and lush landscaping. It is the perfect local destination for individuals and families looking for respite and recreation. Be sure to wear your face covering and practice physical distancing to keep everyone safe. Participate in the BioBlitz and help track the wide variety of plants and animals at the park. Using the iNaturalist app, you can become a “citizen scientist” by taking photos of flowers, trees, insects, even ducks and geese. With this data, we can track the level of biodiversity over time, particularly to see how the new improvements make the park a natural home for various species. The BioBlitz starts Monday, February 1 and runs through March 31. Download the iNaturalist app today and head to Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park to record your observations. Click here to learn more. The Community Center is a state-of-the-art facility that will serve as a hub for gathering, celebrating and learning. The 20,000-square-foot center features a large multi-purpose hall, commercial-grade kitchen, computer training room, three multi-purpose rooms and office spaces. Designed with sustainability in mind, the community center received a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified rating. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the indoor amenities at the park are closed. We look forward to opening up the community center as soon as possible, according to the health guidelines. In the meantime, we invite you to take a virtual tour of this remarkable facility. |
