Hon. Betty Tom Chu Wins Prestigious National Award

The All America Chinese Youth Federation Awards Hon. Betty Tom Chu the
AACYF 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award

AUG. 10, 2021, Los Angeles, CA – The All America Chinese Youth Federation (AACYF) is pleased to announce that Hon. Tom Betty Chu has been named as the recipient of the 2021 AACYF Lifetime Achievement Award for her excellence in community services and dedications.

The All America Chinese Youth Federation has awarded The Art Achievement award to Mr. Huan Wu, and Top 10 Outstanding Youth, Top 30 Under 30 to talented Chinese young professionals. Each recipient receives the recognition certificates from Congress member Young Kim, California state assembly member Phillip Chen.

According to AACYF annual award committee: “Hon. Betty Tom Chu is the first Chinese-American woman to pass California’s State bar and serve as Chief Executive of a bank. A USC Alumni, Chu has spent her career serving as mayor of Monterey Park, helping found East West Bank, teaching classes at LACC, and serving her community. A pioneer in the legal field for Chinese-Americans, she has successfully garnered support for and helped pass Senate Resolutions regarding past anti-Chinese legislation. ”

“Despite retirement, Chu has continued to humbly serve and dedicate time towards those in need. We congratulate her for her ongoing efforts in the Asian community and political field in addition to her impact on the younger Asian-American generation. ” said Richard Ren, the award nominator from AACYF.

The AACYF Annual Awards were inaugurated in 2008 by the All America Chinese Youth Federation 501(c) 3 NGO. The award is one of the most prestigious of the awards recognizing most respected community leaders, professionals and talented young generation from the American Chinese community.
