Yes on Recall Helps to Raise Recall Gascon Awareness

Los Angeles, CA – Today, outside the Hall of Justice in downtown Los Angeles, supporters of the Yes on Newsom Recall gathered to hear one of the movement spokesmen and gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder speak about rises in crime and the threat to public safety that have plagued California under Newsom’s watch and orders. It was also, indirectly, due to Gavin Newsom’s appointment that Angelenos are facing the perilous policies of DA Gascon which many attribute as the reason for the spikes in crime being seen within the county.

Newsom appointed Gascon into his first role of District Attorney in San Francisco. From there, Gascon came to Los Angeles, where beginning on his first day in office, he issued a series of highly contentious directives that triggered the call for his recall. The initial response came from victims’ groups, family members of victims, law enforcement, and deputy district attorneys.

The effort has grown to include a diverse of array of Los Angeles County residents concerned with the abuse of power by politicians, those who are making enforcement of the rule of law more and more political, and the lack of common sense regarding appropriate criminal justice reforms. In response to such concerns, the city councils of 28 cities within Los Angeles County have voted No Confidence in Gascon, along with several neighborhood councils and Rosemead School District.

Voters have until September 14th to vote on the Newsom Recall and have until October 27th to sign the current petition to recall Gascon.
