A Night of Heroes- ELAC Alumni Association 4th Year Anniversary Celebration

It was a night of Heroes: September 11, 2021. The ELAC Alumni Association was back doing what it does best, supporting ELAC and its students. Yes, it was in smaller numbers because of Covid protocols, but our fabulous Husky Football team knew the Alumni and the fans in the stands were behind them 100%.
The Honoring Our Heroes Football event was a celebration in recognition of three important things. First, recognizing the sacrifices our people in uniform who protect our country, including military, law enforcement and first responders, make on a daily basis. Second, the celebration of our students, faculty, coaches, and support staff, who continue to move forward and make things work at ELAC. After all, being a student, teacher or other school support staff cannot be easy because of all the current factors that make it challenging for all. Keeping everyone safe and healthy and remaining focused in a college environment is not a simple task. Heroes all. And finally, the celebration of the ELAC Alumni Association’s 4-year anniversary.
For those in attendance, there was free music, food, beverages, and spirited conversation. The Husky band performed for the Garden crowd and for the folks in the general stadium. A good time for all at the Garden! Alberto J. Román, DPA, President of ELAC, Maria Elena Yepes, President, ELAC Alumni Association, and Trustees Mike Fong and Nichelle Henderson shared some words with the guests.
The official “Alumni Celebration” ended at game kickoff time. It was time to enjoy exciting Husky football, and what a game it was! Chaffey Panthers were the opponent and a tough one. The Huskies rose to the occasion and– as in the previous game against Compton College, won 70 – 8– they overpowered and outplayed a good Panthers team with a final score of 42 -7. A great start for Husky football and congratulations to the players, coaches, and staff!
The Alumni Association provided food and beverages at no cost to all students in attendance. In addition, the Association raised more funds thanks to the generosity of alumni and friends of ELAC. These monies will help the association continue in providing support both with in-kind services and, monetary support, for those students that may need a little help to reach their academic and professional goals.
