2022 Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month Movie Screening in Hollywood
Los Angeles, May 20, 2022 – Hosted by Los Angeles City Councilmember John S. Lee and Councilmember Nithya Raman, co-hosted with Asian World Film Festival, First AAPIHM movie screening was held in Chinese Theatre on May 19. Kim Youngwan, consul general of S. Korea in Los Angeles; Wang Taiyu, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles; Liu Yi, Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles with about 300 Asian American celebrities in attendance with the the Asian featured movie, “The Farewell.” screen.

This uplifting film is written and directed by Lulu Wang and tells the story of a Chinese family discovering their grandmother has only a short time left to live and they collectively decide to keep her in the dark, scheduling a wedding before she dies.
