Natural History Museum and HBO Max Announce House of the Dragon: The Targaryen Dynasty Experience
On view August 5 through September 7
Never-before-seen mini exhibit at NHM will explore the lives and legends
of HBO Original “House of the Dragon,” prequel to “Game of Thrones”
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County (NHM) and HBO Max have partnered to present a new, one-of-a-kind experience House of the Dragon: The Targaryen Dynasty. On view from August 5 through September 7, the 2,500-square foot exhibit will allow visitors to explore the mythical world of Westeros, the Targaryen dynasty, and the dragons that ruled beside them.
Free with paid museum admission, the House of the Dragon experience will feature tutorials on the Valyrian language, original costumes from the show, and series memorabilia, including dragon eggs. In addition, a replica of a new Iron Throne will be on display and available for visitors to sit on and take pictures.
L.A.’s Natural History Museum has one of the oldest and unparalleled collections of Hollywood memorabilia and costumes. The partnership with HBO Max celebrates the creative power of storytelling through the display of props, costumes and artifacts. In addition, NHM will work with its own scientists to discuss on social media the relationship between dragons and the real life creatures that may have inspired them.
House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, is coming to HBO and HBO Max on August 21. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, tells the story of House Targaryen.
